  • The Water & Clean Tech sector is one of the most relevant sectors for Ontario companies. This sector is also specified as a priority area for the Middle East/ GCC and Africa country governments and the private sectors, due to climatic conditions, high energy usage, increasing commitment of governments and new private entrants as solution providers. The countries in the GCC and Africa feature many common drivers for renewable energy, such as high population growth, and a dramatic increase in demand for electricity.
  • Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar are at the top of the attractive markets in the Clean-Tech sector due to their government plans, budgets and long-term strategies
  • The Emirates’ economy has become the most open in the Middle East, and having a business partner in UAE, the regional hub and transit point for exports and imports, offers the possibility to expand not only into the local market, but also to those of the surrounding countries. The UAE remains the top-performing market in the MENA region on their Green Hydrogen Suitability Index, with a large and mature renewables sector, strong base of hydrocarbon production infrastructure and stable political and economic environments.
  • It is forecasted for non-hydropower renewables electricity generation in the UAE to grow by an annual average rate of 16.7% over the next decade, increasing its share of total generation from 4.0% in 2020 to 11.3% in 2030.Virtually all of the country's renewable electricity will be sourced from solar power, which will account for an annual average of 99.9% of renewable power generation from 2020 to 2030.
  • The UAE has announced its Hydrogen Leadership Roadmap
