Message from the OWWA Regarding CCC Specialist Certification During COVID-19

Share on:

With the cancellation of all in person training programs at post-secondary institutions in Ontario, we recognize that many certified Cross Connection Control Specialists have been unable to renew their certification since mid-March. The Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA) is regularly assessing and modifying how it delivers the Cross Connection Control Program as the COVID-19 situation evolves and we will continue to provide regular updates on changes to services and operational procedures. Our top priority is to support municipal water providers in maintaining the safety and integrity of drinking water systems across the province.

With the recent announcement from the Government of Ontario regarding the resumption of in person instruction at postsecondary institutions for the summer term, we are optimistic that recertification courses may be available starting in July 2020. We encourage you to contact your preferred training institution directly to find out if and when training will be offered.

In the interim, due to the exceptional circumstances posed by the current state of emergency in the province of Ontario, we will continue to process extensions on a case-by-case basis for testers whose certification lapsed on or after March 16, 2020. For additional information, or to view the list of accredited training facilities, please visit www.owwa.ca/misc/certification-training

To determine your eligibility or to request an extension, please contact the OWWA office at 416-231-1555 or at waterinfo@owwa.ca.
