Please find below detailed information on each webinar. If you are interested in both markets, you can register on both, or if you are interested in only one, either Brazil or Chile, you can register in the one of your preferences.

ExportON!: Cleantech Sector Opportunities in Brazil
Sector:
Clean Technologies
Market Region: Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean

Date: July 28th, 2022
Time: 10:00 am EDT

The Government of Ontario, in partnership with the Trade Commissioner Service in Brazil, invite you to participate in a free webinar on Cleantech sector opportunities in Brazil focused on water & wastewater subsectors.

Around 84% of Brazilians have access to potable water, leaving 35 million without this service – a population close to that of Canada. Sewage collection only reaches 55% of the population, leaving 100 million without this service. Of the sewage collected, only 51% is treated. Average water loss in distribution is 40%.

Brazil established a new legal framework in 2020 aimed at attracting private sector investment to increase competitiveness and efficiency, bringing renewed hope for universal water and sewage services by 2033.

In the two years of the new legal framework, 16 auctions have been held, attracting approximately US$8.6 billion in investments in the sanitation sector, including investments from Canadian-backed companies. Although it will take a few years for the sector statistics to reflect the impact of these investments, the momentum towards efficient and innovative solutions for the water and wastewater sector is strong and interest among public and private Brazilian sanitation companies is high.

Canada’s global leadership in the development of advanced water and wastewater technologies is well-aligned with the needs and trends of the Brazilian market.

This webinar brings together a panel of experts to provide Canadian cleantech companies with:

  • - An overview of the water/wastewater sector in Brazil, business opportunities and challenges.
  • - An overview of government programs aimed to help Ontario companies access business opportunities in Brazil.
  • - Organizers will also invite participants to join the Water/Wastewater Trade Mission to Brazil from September 12-15 on the margins of FENASAN trade show.

Who should apply:

Ontario export-ready companies that offer technologies and solutions in the Cleantech sector, specifically in the Water & Wastewater subsector.

Register by: July 27th, 2022

ExportON!: Cleantech Sector Opportunities in Chile
Sector:
Clean Technologies
Market Region: Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean

Date: Thursday, July 28th, 2022
Time: 11:00 am EDT

The Government of Ontario, in partnership with the Trade Commissioner Service in Chile and Export Development Canada (EDC), invite you to participate in a free webinar on the water & wastewater sector opportunities in Chile.

Mining is a key contributor to Chile’s economy - which accounts for 15% of its GDP and 60% of its exports - and is Canada’s largest sector of investment. Chile’s mining industry recognizes the urgency of climate change and is implementing ESG strategies in its quest for a greener mining. Chilean mining companies are therefore keen to incorporate clean technologies in their operations to reduce and recycle water use and achieve sustainable operational targets. Fresh water is of particular concern for miners as it is a key component in ore processing. Chile has been struck for the past decade with the worst drought in its history, with rain levels dropping by 20 to 40%. Given water scarcity there is therefore great interest in water efficiencies and in building desalination plants.

The water utilities sector in Chile is privately operated through concessions that are renewed every 20 to 30 years. Canadian companies represent 45% of the water utilities market in Chile. Key concerns of Chilean water utilities include managing water scarcity with energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable treatment, storage and transportation technologies. Digital solutions to monitor leak detection, water quality and predict disruptive events are of interest. Overall sustainable asset management of ageing infrastructure is also required.

Ontario cleantech companies looking to grow their business in this market will benefit from:

  • - An overview of the cleantech sector, focused on water and wastewater technologies and solutions, highlighting current trends and opportunities.
  • - An overview of government programs aimed to help Ontario companies access business opportunities in Chile.
  • - Information on the Water & Wastewater Export Business Mission to Chile, September 7-9, 2022.
  • - A meet & greet/briefing session, a business connections program (B2Bs) will also be organized as well as a site visit and a networking event to further engage with local contacts.

Who should apply:

Ontario export-ready companies that offer technologies and solutions in the cleantech sector, specifically in the water & wastewater for industrial applications.
