The Plant Operator Water is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing water distribution and wastewater collection systems, as well as water and wastewater treatment facilities. This full-time role requires availability for rotational on-call and stand-by shifts and travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes. Key duties include inspecting and servicing water shutoffs, fire hydrants, valves, water mains, and meters; monitoring water quality through sampling and analysis; and responding promptly to customer inquiries and emergency situations such as leaks, backups, or blockages. The operator also manages the operation of treatment equipment, including chemical pumps, filters, UV systems, and mechanical pumps, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and safety standards. The role involves maintaining accurate records, supporting facility inspections and compliance tasks, and communicating regularly with supervisors to report system conditions and issues. Candidates must hold the appropriate licensing class for the facility where they will work.
