Reporting to the Manager, Water Operations, the successful applicant will be directly responsible for the administration of staff, material, equipment and contractor resources utilized in the inspection, maintenance and construction of the potable water distribution system. The incumbent will plan and supervise the work of the Water Distribution area to ensure the work is completed accurately and efficiently while minimizing the inconvenience to customers. The duties include but are not limited to: maintaining the potable water distribution system; attending pre-construction meetings; monitoring training progress to ensure training requirements are met; monitoring work practices and adherence to safety procedures; providing ongoing onsite job instructions and recommendations; organizing and monitoring response to emergent issues; providing detailed reports on activities related to this role. The Supervisor, Water Distribution is assigned as Operator in Charge (OIC) over the assigned sub system in compliance with Ontario Regulation 128/04 of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The successful applicant must also be able to substitute as the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) on an “as needed” basis, have overall knowledge of the status of all potable water distribution system projects/jobs and respond to any questions from the Ministry of Environment office. The successful candidate may periodically be required to be on-call and will be required to work after hours when emergent issues arise
