Young Professionals Committee

What We Do

We are the future of the OWWA! Our committee represents the up and coming water professionals of the drinking water industry.

We provide an opportunity for young professionals to learn and network within the industry by organizing plant tours, seminars, and social events. We also organize the YP Session and lots of fun activities at the OWWA Annual Conference, and we manage the OWWA’s Student Chapter Program . See our Committee Charter for more information about our mandate and activities.

The YP program was developed by the AWWA and has been adopted by several AWWA Sections. Formed in 1999, the OWWA’s Young Professionals Committee today boasts one of the AWWA’s most active YP committees.

For more information about YP activities at the AWWA level, check out the AWWA Young Professionals Center.

We publish a YP Spotlight Article in Pipeline Magazine Quarterly, highlighting a Young Professional, submit an article here.

Who We Are

Our members are primarily industry professionals with less than 10 years of experience and under 35 years of age. However, “seasoned professionals” can always be found at our great events!

Our YP membership includes individuals from many facets of the water industry, including students, consultants, operators, municipal engineers, manufacturers, equipment suppliers, technicians, conservation authority staff, individuals who work for federal or provincial government developing policy, and many others.

Our committee members are ambitious YPs who have a passion for water and the environment.
