Maintenance Operator (Temporary Full-Time)

02 – Located at the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant at Pickering, Ontario.
02 – Located at the Corbett Creek Water Pollution Control Plant at Whitby, Ontario.
Maintenance Operator 1 – WPCP
The duties include:
• Operate and maintain the Region’s Water Pollution Control Plants including the collection system pumping stations
• Work standby duty, overtime and rotating shifts
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Applicants must have:
• A Grade 12 diploma coupled with a two-year post-secondary diploma in a related environmental field
• A Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Licence and willingness/ability to advance within the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Wastewater Operator Certification Program
• Familiarity with computerized plant operations, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting
• The ability to respond quickly to standby and overtime as well as the ability to work on a rotating shift schedule
• The ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound judgements regarding work methods and tools
• Experience and basic proficiency using Microsoft Office software
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• A valid Ontario Class ‘G’ (or higher) Driver’s Licence
• A Confined Space Entry Certificate would be considered an asset
Candidates who possess an Operator in Training (OIT) Wastewater Treatment Licence and are willing to register and
advance within the MECP Wastewater Operator Certification Program may also apply, however, preference will be given
to applicants with a Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Licence.
Maintenance Operator 1 Hourly Rates
– Start Rate: $36.24 – Job Rate: $36.94
Conditions of Employment

throughout the recruitment process. Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will be
required prior to start date. A current Driver’s Abstract will also be required.
