Water Services Student / OIT

The Water Services Summer Student will assist in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Cobourg, Grafton and Colborne Water Distribution Systems.  This is a Student / OIT position that will facilitate a future opportunity to progress to a Water/Wastewater Operator position within the industry. 

Overall Responsibilities

Hydrant and watermain flushing, maintenance and repairs.
Maintaining all process and maintenance records.
Ensuring compliance with all Ontario Drinking Water Legislation in Ontario.
Performing water quality sampling and analysis.
Working in accordance with Lakefront policies and procedures as well as all applicable Health & Safety regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

A valid MECP Drinking Water Treatment and Distribution Operator-in-Training certification.
Ability to research, compile and organize information in an accurate manner.
Ability to meet projects schedules.
Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team environment.
Valid Class “G” drivers license.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and perform strenuous physical work.
 

As this is a union position, the salary as per the collective agreement is $24.86 per hour.
